How we do more for charity.

Time to read: 2 minutes

At True Potential we are committed to helping clients do more with their money, and as part of that commitment we are also pleased to help our clients, advisers and True Potential staff fundraising within their communities.

This year has been no exception, with £137,000 already raised between True Potential and our charitable partner The Harrison Foundation. We are thrilled to have seen so many of our clients and advisers getting involved in so many good causes, helping to fund vital charity and community projects across the UK.

As part of the fundraising efforts that have taken place at True Potential Head Office, our staff have raised over £28,000 as part of our monthly nominated charity events. Staff have been involved in a range of activities and challenges, such as a half marathon walk to work to raise money for research into blood cancer.

Organisations that have benefited so far this year include The Charlie and Carter Foundation, MLD, The Bloom Appeal, Veterans Community Lanarkshire, International Emergency Team UK, and the Newcastle United Foundation.

One of the more recent fundraising efforts involved a 26 mile hike in the Lake District, with 29 True Potential colleagues undertaking the Macmillan Cancer Support Mighty Hike around Ullswater. The marathon walk was a literal uphill battle, with colleagues taking between 8 and 12 hours to finish the challenging route. Staff have raised over £8,000 for this cause so far, and True Potential Senior Partners will be doubling the amount raised. You can donate to this great cause here.

As part of our fundraising for the Newcastle United Foundation, the inaugural True Potential Cup took place at the Newcastle United Foundation rooftop pitch, with ten True Potential teams taking part in the football tournament and raising over £3,000.

Steve Beharall, Newcastle United Foundation CEO, said: “We are thrilled that the inaugural True Potential Cup has been a huge success and we are humbled to receive this fantastic donation to create brighter futures for the region’s young people.

“We are grateful for the continued support from both the Harrison Foundation and True Potential that allows us to continue to provide meaningful opportunities that inspire and engage the next generation.”

Harrison Foundation trustee and True Potential Chief Executive, Daniel Harrison, said: “Sport is a fantastic way to build team spirit and camaraderie within a business but as the Harrison Centre at the Newcastle United Foundation has shown, it’s also a great way to learn new skills off the pitch.

Physical challenges will continue to be the theme later this year when True Potential staff take part in the Great North Run to raise money for The Sunshine Fund. This is something that True Potential have participated in for over five years now, with the most recent 2022 Great North Run fundraising £20,903 for The Sunshine Fund’s work with children affected by disabilities. “We love to work with True Potential as they share our ethos of a fairer society with opportunities for all,” said Siobhan Sargeant, Sunshine Fund Charity Director. “That’s why the Great North Run campaign is the perfect opportunity for us to collaborate each year, and we are so grateful to True Potential for being such staunch supporters.
